Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024Stevie Wonder, who had left MoTown in 1970 to record two independent album for himself, was shocked to learn of this. Berry Gordy was shocked to discover this. Stevie Wonder and Berry Gord agreed to Stevie Wonder's demand of greater independence and full creative control and the rights to all his music. Stevie Wonder signed a contract worth 13 million dollars with MoTown Records in 1972. Stevie Wonder was entitled to higher royalty rates and more creative control and the rights of his songs. This was an unusual opportunity for artists at that time. The contract allowed Wonder's songs to discuss controversial topics like war, poverty, drugs and politics.Stevie is known for his songs that are political, like You Haven't Done Nothing, which was a political attack at Richard Nixon. In 1972, he came out with Music Of My Mind, his debut album under the brand new MoTown agreement. In the latter part of 1972, Stevie Wonder released an album that is now regarded as a landmark piece in music,Talking Book. It included Superstition as the top song.
